Why

I drown

In memories

Pulled under

Each one tearing

At my soul

Why granddaddy why

You used me

I loved you

As a child loves

You took that

Twisted it

And stole

My innocence

You taught me

Safety was an illusion

You came at will

Touching me

The smell

Of liquor

On your breath

The pain

As you

Forced me

My screams

My pleadings

Meant nothing

Your ragged breath

The twisted look

On your face

I will take

To my grave

Why granddaddy why
